The University of Phoenix is seeking candidates to supervise and evaluate student teacher candidates in the field. The University Supervisor - Student Teacher serves as a liaison between the administrative intern, cooperating teacher, and University personnel. University supervisors observe and evaluate local pre-service candidates for effective practices and dispositions toward teaching. Student teachers may be placed in early childhood, elementary, special education and/or content-specific secondary settings. University supervisor positions are temporary positions, based on need and availability in a geographical area.

The candidate who is hired for this part-time position will be required to supervise in Calhoun, Georgia. This is not a virtual or online course. Only candidates that are able to supervise in this specific area/location should apply.

  • Supervising student teachers on site in schools on an as-needed basis
  • Conducting regular classroom observations and evaluations of student teachers during placement and discussing observations with the candidates
  • Maintaining written records of the assigned student teacher's progress
  • Providing written evaluations related to the candidate's performance and posting to designated University platforms
  • Ability to Travel to specified site locations
  • Assigning midterm and final student teaching grades, in collaboration with the cooperating teacher
  • Providing student teacher with resources to assist with continued development and growth
  • Ensuring weekly contact with student teachers and cooperating teachers
  • Developing and implementing support plans, in conjunction with University personnel, as warranted
  • Attending meetings with University personnel as scheduled

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Master's degree or higher in an Educational field OR Master's degree in any area with 18 graduate level credits focused in Education
    • Must have a minimum Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in P-12 environment, 3 years current applicable classroom, administrative, or pre-service educator preparation experience.
    • Current P-12 professional certification/licensure (teacher or administrator)


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • NOTE: A license that has been revoked or suspended will not be acceptable for this requirement.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience observing and evaluating teachers in department/grade level chair, school administrator, instructional coach, district or department directors with evaluation responsibilities
  • Acceptable professional positions can include are not limited to: Classroom Teacher in a P-12 environment, Curriculum/Program Developers or Specialists, Principal, Assistant Principal, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or a UOPX College of Education Administrator.
  • CURRENCY: Extended through: 1) Student Teacher Supervisor experience for P-12 student populations, or 2) Teaching for faculty with a Doctorate or Master's in education.
  • Additional experience or academic preparation may be required, as identified by states or Local Education Agencies (LEA).

Pay Range

For all states except CA, the pay range for this position is on a per course basis, and is between $1,035 and $3,686.
