The Tram Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with route information, and assisting drivers in the safe operation of routes. This class works under general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

This is a temporary position with flexible hours beginning November 14, 2024 and ending April 23, 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that guests abide by all policies and procedures.
  • Provide general customer travel information.
  • Sell individual bus passes.
  • Process credit card and cash transactions.
  • Provide crowd control and direct passengers.
  • Monitor area and tram for passenger safety.
  • Assist guests with wheelchairs or mobility devices on/off the tram; Maintains familiarity and compliance with ADA requirements.
  • Make announcements and provide information on the tram with a microphone.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to all passengers.
  • Maintain area cleanliness by cleaning tram vehicles and monitoring stop cleanliness.
  • Performs vehicle and equipment inspection including general maintenance and safety checks.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
  • Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Supplemental Information
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, bend sit for long periods of time, load and unload wheelchair passengers and secure wheelchairs on the tram.
  • Knowledge of Lee County geographical area.
  • Ability to give directions, understand and use electronic maps; such as Google maps.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and be able to perform cashier transactions.
  • Must be able to work any shifts based on operational needs, to include evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including nighttime.
