SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Solar Commissioning Engineer II, specializing in Warranty and Reliability,
for managing warranty items across all of our Solar projects for items including (but not limited to) inverters, SCADA controls, Solar tracking systems, substations, and networking equipment. This includes providing regular updates to both internal and external stakeholders, managing teams of trade partners and internal experts, and developing schedules for remedying complex matters. Minneapolis location preferred limited travel. Strong customer service orientation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical electrical support
Review design documents to ensure conformance with contract expectations, ensuring that Mortenson stays compliant with warranty agreements.
Triage complex warranty issues to determine both priority and level of effort required.
Understanding of Mortensons contractual obligations with regard to warranty coverage.
Understanding of Mortensons trade partners obligations with regard to warranty coverage.
Ensure quality control of remedied work such that Mortenson is providing exceptional customer service while remaining lean and efficient.
Interface with SCADA HMI systems to collect data and evaluate data for site Performance or Capacity Testing.
Monitor and diagnose commissioning and operations issues for Solar projects through performance metrics or routine reporting.
Engage 3rd party testing services, as required.
Engage internal experts as-necessary in order to develop workable solutions to complex warranty concerns
Work with Project Manager(s)/Electrical Managers to budget, forecast, and manage equipment, materials, small tools/meters, and the general working environment.
Manage the interface with appropriate personnel concerned with the connection of the project power grid to the existing distribution/transmission system.
Review construction documents for completeness and constructability
Support the creation, review, and update project schedule and 3-week look ahead scheduling
Coordinate plans and specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying any discrepancies.
Develop and implement execution plans and establish crew sizes.
Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings.
Ensure correct implementation of the Mortenson Project Quality Plan (PQP) and assist in the development and updating of the project control logs and QC documentation; assist with the development of electrical Standard Work Instructions (SWIs)
Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities.
Implement Mortensons Zero Injury Safety Program at the project site.
Manage open shop and union issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of the latest NESC, NEC, IEEE, NEMA, and OSHA codes and standards and industry safety requirements and methods
Experience with Solar SCADA systems operations preferred.
Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Detail orientation is sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level.
Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills.
Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.

Education and Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience
Minimum 4 years of electrical construction management and/or commissioning experience.
Proficiency in low, medium, and high-voltage technical knowledge
Specialized knowledge/experience in the area of electrical DC systems, low voltage AC systems, controls, and substations
Current drivers license
