General Description of Duties:

  • Responsible for daily operation of thrift store.
  • Customer relations, answering phones, tagging, stocking, and selling merchandise.
  • May set up displays of merchandise.
  • Assist with coordinating sales events.
  • Maintain general appearance of the retail area.
  • Assist customers with unloading and processing donations.
  • Complete required documentation for donations.
  • May pick-up or deliver goods donated or purchased.
  • Provide personal care and other assistance for clients as required.
  • Ensure client safety on the selling floor and donation processing areas.
  • Provide backup to meet client's needs related to placement, training, and general supervision.
Education and Training:
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Post high school training in business preferred.
  • Requires one year of general work experience.
  • One year of retail experience preferred.
  • Bilingual helpful.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.
  • Ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Must complete specific certifications (from our training department) and maintain those certifications throughout employment.
  • Experience working with MR/DD population a plus.


Other Requirements: Must pass TB test, background check and pre-employment drug screen.Must have reliable transportation, valid NM driver's license, and agency insurable driving record.Must be able to operate cash register, tagging equipment and a 10 key adding machine as well as answer telephones as needed.Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulders, crouch, kneel, push/pull, carry frequently and stand for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Adelante is a drug free workplace.
