Minimum Qualifications:
* The essential knowledge, skills, and experience of this position include:
* Undergraduate (BSN) and graduate (MSN or doctorate) degrees from accredited schools of nursing required.
* Earned doctorate in nursing or related field. Research doctorate preferred.
* Ten years of recent full-time college teaching, including online, post licensure and graduate level teaching; three years administrative experience in a nursing education program desirable and at least three years of clinical nursing practice.
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching, ongoing scholarly achievement and leadership in academic, professional and/or community organizations.
* Qualifies for Associate or full Professor rank.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Dean - Graduate Programs works with the Dean to provide leadership in the enactment of the schools academic mission as it interfaces with the vision, values, and goals of the university.

The Assistant Dean - Graduate Programs takes primary responsibility for development and oversight of the graduate programs.

The Assistant Dean - Graduate Programs will provide leadership for curriculum planning, course development and implementation, ensuring accreditation standards are met, and for the attainment of overall school of nursing and university goals.

The Assistant Dean - Graduate Programs serves on the deans administrative team to share expertise and participate in program governance, accreditation processes, student and faculty recruitment and retention, and policy development and management.* Assists the dean with development, implementation, and evaluation of short-and long-term goals for the SON.
* Collaborates with the administrative team to ensure that program evaluation (MPE) is systematically carried out to monitor program quality.
* Stands in for the dean during absences and as needed for events requiring SON representation.
* Provides leadership for achievement of academic excellence in online learning for graduate programs.
* Provides leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum for the graduate programs.
* Develops effective assessment processes for graduate programs and coordinates them with the administrative team.
* Ensures that online and clinical learning experiences are consistent with the overall graduate curriculum.
* Analyzes program and student evaluation data to guide graduate program improvement.
* Develops admission, progression, graduation and other policies.

Makes recommendations for change as needed.
* Reviews admission, progression and graduation policies, and makes recommendations for

change as needed.
* Coordinates policies, curriculum changes, and related concerns with the Dean and the university registrar.
* Ensures that accreditation standards are met, documented, and reported.
* Provides leadership to ensure the recruitment, appointment, orientation and continuing development of the faculty teaching in the graduate program.
* Serves as mentor and role model for faculty.
* Coordinates faculty assignments with the assistant dean for the undergraduate program as needed and monitors workloads of graduate faculty.
* Communicates faculty concerns/needs to the Dean.
* Serves as a resource for students and communicates with them regarding unsatisfactory progress.
* Takes an active role in student recruitment and retention.
* Participates in scholarship, service, and professional development activities that promote the school and correspond with personal and professional interests and goals as per job description for academic rank.
* Carries a teaching assignment of not more than 12-18 credit hours per year.

Teaches graduate courses in areas of expertise.
* Participates in the governance of the school and the university.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein.
* Serves as resource to faculty for student assessment, course development/implementation and outcome measurement.
* Participates in scholarship, service, and professional development activities that promote the school and correspond with personal and professional interests and goals.
* Carries teaching load of not more than 12-15 credit hours per year.
* Accepts/seeks out opportunities to participate in appropriate type and scale of nursing research in nursing practice and/or education.
* Collaborates with professional colleagues to promote evidence based practice.
* Synthesizes and integrates research findings in teaching and clinical practice. Promotes and models collegiality and interdisciplinary approaches in education and practice.
* Prepares articles, presentations, seminars and workshops regarding clinical practice and/or education in local, state and/or regional forums.
* Serves as an effective liaison for SON with established and new clinical facilities and other community agencies.
* Abides by faculty responsibilities for university citizenship as outlined in university and SON policy.
* Assumes leadership role on SON committees and serves on university/healthcare facility committees.
* Provides opportunities for professional role development of self and colleagues.
* Participates and/or serves as a leader in local community service activities.
* Holds committee membership or office in local, state or regional professional organizations.
* Serves as a speaker or resource on topics relating to areas of recognized expertise in the local and regional community.
* Participates in professional continuing education or credit courses that expand theoretical and/or clinical knowledge base.
* Maintains certification in area of specialty practice or CNE, as applicable.
* Demonstrates skill as expert clinician.
* Recognized by faculty colleagues and clinical associates for clinical expertise.
* Demonstrates effectiveness of innovative clinical approaches based on research.
* Accepts opportunities to serve as consultant on clinical/education/research matters.
* Appreciates *Jean Watsons Theory of Human Caring* in every aspect of care delivery at SVH.
* Synthesizes and integrates research findings in teaching and clinical practice.
* Promotes collegiality and utilizes interdisciplinary approaches in education/research/ practice.
* Writes refereed publications or book chapters about clinical and/or research activities.
* Oversees effectiveness of liaison relationships with clinical and community agencies for the school of nursing.
* Abides by faculty responsibilities for university citizenship as outlined in university and SON policy.
* Assumes leadership role on school of nursing, healthcare facility committees and/or university committees.
* Serves as role model for professional role development of colleagues.
* Participates or assumes a leadership role in community service at local, state and/or regional level.
* Seeks and fulfills leadership roles in state, regional or national professional organizations.
* Conducts seminars and workshops and/or is a speaker throughout the state, region, and/or nation on topics of recognized expertise.
* Participates in professional continuing education or credit courses that expand theoretical base and/or clinical knowledge.
* Maintains certification in areas of specialty practice or CNE, as applicable.
* Demonstrates skill as an expert clinician/educator.
* Recognized by professional peers as an expert in clinical field.
* Innovates effective clinical/education practice approaches based on research.
* Recognized as a consultant on clinical/educational/research matters.
