Itero Group is seeking a Systems Administrator to support mission-critical government systems across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support levels. This role provides end-to-end administration of Linux and Windows enterprise environments, including High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, large-scale storage platforms, and high-speed networking. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling frontline operational support while also owning advanced troubleshooting, system optimization, automation, and infrastructure planning in a highly secure environment. LOCATION: Maryland Tier 1 Responsibilities (Operations & User Support) Provide first-level support for Linux and Windows systems, responding to service requests, alerts, and incidents Perform basic system administration tasks including user account management, access provisioning, and password resets Monitor system health, logs, and alerts using tools such as Nagios and Splunk, escalating issues as needed Support end-user workstations, peripherals, and mobile devices within a secure environment Accurately document incidents, requests, and resolutions Tier 2 Responsibilities (Advanced Support & Troubleshooting) Troubleshoot and resolve moderate-to-complex system issues across servers, storage, and network-connected systems Perform system patching, updates, configuration changes, and routine maintenance Support HPC clusters, including compute nodes, login nodes, and job scheduling environments Assist with administration of parallel file systems such as Lustre and GPFS Support Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS administration Collaborate with network and security teams to resolve cross-platform issues Tier 3 Responsibilities (Engineering, Optimization & Planning) Lead resolution of complex, high-impact incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes Design, implement, and optimize Linux and Windows system architectures supporting enterprise and HPC workloads Administer and tune high-performance storage and networking, including Infiniband Develop automation scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Python) to improve operational efficiency and reliability Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff Participate in architecture reviews, capacity planning, and infrastructure roadmap planning Security, Compliance & Monitoring (All Tiers) Operate systems in compliance with government security policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements Support system hardening, vulnerability remediation, patch compliance, and auditing activities Maintain accurate system documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures Required Qualifications Experience supporting Linux and Windows enterprise environments across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support levels Experience with HPC infrastructure, clustered computing, and large-scale storage systems Familiarity with parallel file systems (Lustre, GPFS) and high-speed networking technologies Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills If you are looking for a role where you will lead with integrity, create and innovate, inspire excellence, be a respected member of the team, drive results, and have fun, we look forward to connecting with you Benefits at Itero Group At Itero Group, we're proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and work-life balance: Health & Wellness: Medical (BC-BS), dental, and vision plans to suit your needs.
