Description

Consumer Banking Risk has an immediate opening for a Private Wealth Risk Director. As the Private Wealth Risk Director, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of risk and compliance associated with a Private Wealth RIA, B/D and Trust Fiduciary, including direct support for the Chief Fiduciary and Chief Investment Officer, and the heads of the business. Candidate must possess a strong and in-depth RIA, B/D and Trust Fiduciary knowledge of the rules, regulations, and operational processes, including expertise in governing and managing the full client and investment management and due diligence lifecycle.

As the Director of First Line Risk, you will represent the first line of defense and lead the business development and execution of policies and procedures that mitigate various types of risk at Citizens. You will partner with the business and serve as a liaison, interfacing with Wealth Management business leaders to drive meaningful conversations on end-to-end risk and compliance policies within their function, strategize on solutions and mitigation activities, and develop remediation plans. You will promote a culture of risk and compliance awareness throughout Wealth Management and the bank by supporting the development of training and education on risk policies and practices. You will provide leadership, expertise, and guidance to your team to design, implement, and influence internal governance processes and controls. You will be accountable for ensuring Private Wealth and the broader Wealth Management is in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, and work in conjunction with the Compliance team to minimize potential risk. Additionally, in this role, you will have complete oversight of pilot programs, products, and strategies.

Experience in developing Private Wealth risk and compliance programs for dual-registered Broker-Dealer/Registered Investment Advisor, and RIA serving ultra-high net worth clients, 12 CFR 9 Trust and Fiduciary business, including exposure to Alternative Investments and 33 and 40 Act programs is a must.

Primary responsibilities include

+ Lead and direct the identification, and mitigation of material risks in the organization.

+ Lead the business in the development and execution of policies and procedures that mitigate various types of risk.

+ Oversee all components of the risk and compliance program and constantly monitor risks, requirements, policies, and procedures to ensure that risk is effectively managed within its Risk Appetite and complies with regulatory standards.

+ Design, implement, and/or influence internal governance processes. Manage Governance throughout the firm to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

+ Advise and help senior management understand and manage risk and help to allocate capital in order to maximize risk-adjusted returns.

+ Reviews current policies and procedures to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement.

+ Promote a culture of risk awareness and accountability through training, education, and risk management consultative support.

Qualifications:

+ 8-12+ years experience in Wealth Management Risk Management, Audit, or Compliance

+ 8+ years Risk and Compliance experience with advanced Broker-Dealer, Registered Investment Advisor, 12 CFR 9 Trust and Fiduciary business, including exposure to Alternative Investments and 33 and 40 Act programs.

+ Subject matter expert in the governance of investment management products and services, including direct support to the Chief Fiduciary and Investment Officer of the firm.

+ Accomplished background in brokerage, insurance, investment adviser, and general securities matters required.

+ Requires experience in working with multiple regulatory agencies such as FINRA, SEC, State Securities and State Insurance Divisions and Banking Regulatory Agencies.

+ Experience with Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) platforms, preferably Archer.

+ Strong expertise, knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legislative guidelines.

+ Extensive experience managing projects including planning, implementation, and reporting.

+ Proven relationship management skills, strong track record of ability to build trust and credibility through communication, actions, and presence.

+ Extensive leadership skills including influencing without direct management.

+ Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

+ Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal is a must.

Education:

+ Bachelors Degree OR at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD) OR at least 5 years of work experience with a PhD.

Hours & Work Schedule

+ Hours per Week: 40

+ Work Schedule: M-F 8-5
