The Licensing Associate is responsible for the management of various projects and interpreting policies related to technology transfer activities. The Licensing Associate works under the supervision of the Director of Technology Transfer and works with intellectual property (IP) attorneys to manage the IP portfolio of the institution efficiently and effectively. Will focus on marketing intellectual property to prospective licensees using a variety of methods and approaches to understand the marketplace such as the use of informational databases, networking with industry and investment partners etc. Under the direction of the Director of Technology Transfer will work with FCCC investigators to better understand their technologies and will negotiate corporate-sponsored research agreements that include any such technologies. Specific activities include: identification of technologies with commercial potential, evaluation of new inventions, management of patent prosecution, identifying potential licensees, developing and implementing specific marketing strategies based on the technology, and drafting and negotiating license agreements, option agreements, and other types of agreements including inter-institutional, material transfer, collaboration and confidentiality agreements.

Education

Bachelors Degree ; in Life Sciences, Chemistry or related field (Required)

Masters Degree : MBA (Preferred)

PhD (Preferred)

Experience

2 Years experience in research with a focus in oncology or life sciences, or technology-based market research (Required)

3 Years experience in research contracting (Preferred)

3 Years experience in technology transfer, business development industry or related field (Preferred)

General experience with and knowledge of Federal regulations (NIH, IRS, FDA) pertaining to the development and commercialization of technology, particularly in context of federally funded research (Preferred)
