Position Summary
The Underwriting Assistant provides support to the Underwriting department by assisting with compiling
and submitting community rated renewal data, Schedule-A 5500 information, and utilization reports for
clients and the sales department.

Essential Position Functions
  • Prepare, write and submit small group / community rated renewal letters to groups and broker agencies.
  • Pull, prepare and organize utilization data for Schedule-A 5500s.
  • Review small group / community sold case documents for accuracy and submission.
  • Gather utilization data to submit forms to state insurance divisions.
  • Extract commercial group census information and compile data into Geo Access reports for the sales team.
  • Pull and audit quarterly experience reports for clients.
  • Create, design and submit ad-hoc data reports as needed.
  • Data entry for renewal and proposal log entries.
  • Assist in auditing report utilization data.
  • Review and respond to mailbox inquiries.
  • Perform administration duties such as organizing online folders, digital and paper fillings, and intranet memos.
Non Essential Position Functions
  • Handle routine complaints or inquiries.
  • Additional duties as assigned
Job Qualifications

Education and Experience
High school diploma or some college level education preferred, and a minimum of one year of underwriting experience preferred OR equivalent combination of education and experience, which will provide the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Knowledge of:
  • Insurance industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Tableau proficiency is preferred.
Skill In:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the company.
  • Problem solving and analytical/interpretive skills are required.
Ability to:
  • Manage time effectively and complete multiple tasks for various projects.
  • Perform basic math calculations including the use of some algebraic formulas.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate teamwork capabilities.

The work is primarily performed while sitting and/or standing, but will require occasional walking, bending,
stooping and carrying light items such as papers, books, or other supplies. The incumbent uses a
computer and other standard office equipment to complete tasks.
