Reporting to the VC-CFO, the Campus Budget Office (CBO) provides professional analytical and resource management expertise and services that support campus strategic planning, decision-making and effective management of campus resources. We serve in an advisoryrole to campus executive leadership, in support of UC San Diego's tri-mission in teaching, research and public service. The CBO develops current and long-range financial planning associated with the campus operating budget by providing accurate, timely and meaningfulfinancial information, analysis and reports. We play a key role in the annual campus budget and resource allocations process. Additionally, we provide policy analysis and respond to a wide range of issues with resource impact, including enrollment, tuition and fees, researchoverhead, insurance programs, administrative assessments and other institutional policies. POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the general direction of the Director, the Sr Financial Analyst tracks, monitors and works to resolve pending Central Campus commitments related to instructional support. Serves and the primary contact and coordinator for the annual Self-Supporting Graduate Professional Degree fee proposals as well as the Regents Budget Table reporting for Student Academic Preparation and Educational Partnerships and Self-Supporting Faculty effort. The Sr Financial Analyst will also serve as lead point of contact for budgetary support for the VC Equity Diversity and Inclusion and Academic Senate. Incumbent may also back-up various duties across the Academic resource management and planning portfolio including tasks associated with enrollment and fee planning/management. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Contacts are both internal and external to the department. Analyzes data from multiple sources and provides planning and analysis related to complex financial projects to achieve needs, goals, and targets. Prepares campus support and commitment record data and independently provides follow-up measures, recommendations, and continuous recurring improvement changes. Provides comprehensive budget and financial management resource support and analytical analysis. Summarizes budgetary matters and resource plans related to the annual budget planning process for assigned areas. Independently organizes, plans, develops, and documents a broad scope of ongoing instructional financial commitment arrangements for annual reporting. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. In-depth knowledge and applications of principles and practices of fiscal planning and analysis, budgetary systems and organizational management.

Demonstrated expertise in applying advanced computer technology as a problem-solving tool in financial modeling.

Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments. Ability to assemble high volume and complex detailed information into a coherent whole, identify important highlights and/or key issues/concerns.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to prioritize heavy workload, meet deadlines, cope with peak workload periods and apply creativity and originality in problem-solving.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
