DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: Attract, develop, and retain high potential individuals to support the mission of the OSU Foundation.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Human Resources Intern will provide administrative support to the Human Resources team, including but not limited to recruitment, organizational development, front desk coverage.

KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:

Talent Acquisition/Recruitment:

  • Assist with the clerical aspects of Talent Acquisition/Recruitment:
    • Assist with student/intern recruitment and work with hiring managers to review applications, schedule and conduct phone interviews, schedule onsite interviews, and build interview itineraries
    • Assist with conducting reference checks and initiated pre-employment screenings
    • Assist with office services to include filing of documents, maintaining employee records, and recruitment and general files;Ensure accuracy in all personnel files, maintaining personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements, and keeping employee records up-to-date by processing employee status changes in a timely fashion
Organizational Development:
  • Assist organizational development with management of staff professional development
    • Setting up training events in the Learning Management System (LMS), including student/intern onboarding
    • Accurately entering data for training events and participants
    • Distributing training evaluations in a timely manner
Front Desk and Mail Center:
  • Assist with the front desk, mail center, and daily errands, as needed
    • Ensure front desk is staffed throughout the day
    • Greet guests in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner
    • Professionally answer all incoming calls and redirect accordingly
    • Assist with the distribution of OSU Foundation voucher and voucher checks requested through University departments
    • Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, as needed
    • Prepare daily gift receipts for mailing, as needed
    • Deliver to post office, bank and other establishments, as needed


Other Human Resources Functions:
  • Assist in preparing new hire notebooks, filing of documents and maintaining records, including I-9s
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of all performance review materials, including annual and intermittent evaluations
  • Understand the importance of employment law and compliance regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, employee relations, and proper maintenance of employee files and forms
  • Other duties as assigned
JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

Education & Certifications:
  • Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's or graduate degree program, with a Human Resources Management option
  • Active membership in the Human Resources Management Association; current student membership in Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), preferred
Experience:
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of the job responsibility
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail a must
  • Proficient computer skills with basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Cooperative attitude with a desire to learn
  • Minimum of 20-25 hours pers week, Monday through Friday
  • Proven sense of humor and ability to have fun

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must use a computer terminal and view a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must talk in person or by phone (frequently and sometimes for extended periods) to people onsite or to external candidates/partners. Must constantly use visual acuity to check printed and designed materials of various types. Must be able to navigate within the OSU Foundation. Typical office working conditions.
