Our Commercial Lines team is currently seeking an experienced Technology Underwriter.

This position is eligible for a hybrid or fully remote work arrangement.

This is a full time, exempt role.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Underwriters are responsible for underwriting and retention on accounts for Commercial Lines business. During the course of executing on this responsibility, the Underwriter is expected to partner with Production Underwriters and Field (SCSMs and RVPs); investigate and promote franchise value opportunities including but not limited to cross sell and up sell for renewal accounts handled; engage in producer management as necessary and appropriate; and act as the owner of individual renewal portfolio (book and agency) profit and loss. The Underwriter should work closely with their UT partner to ensure all policies are underwritten in the most efficient and effective manner while meeting service standards and performance goals.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Underwrite and manage CL Technology business for respective agency assignments
  • Be responsible for individually underwriting and servicing the non-bypass accounts in their assigned portfolio, including adequately pricing the exposures to attain desired profit returns.
  • Effectively deliver renewal quotes at appropriate threshold in a professional manner, including quote proposals, cross sells, up sells, and segment expertise awareness as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with New Business UWs and SCSMs to present a united front on account/agency strategies and decisions.
  • Participate in agency reviews, agency planning and agency profiling.
  • Participate in agency results management and results reporting.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and 3+ years of underwriting experience
  • Strong underwriting skill and coverage knowledge; ability to make underwriting decisions on Small Commercial and Middle Market accounts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service and partners; high level of responsiveness
  • Ability to build and maintain close working relationships with Agents, UTs, SCSMs, and New Business UWs, demonstrating strong relationship building, teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Excellent time management skills, responsiveness, and willingness to bring appropriate level of underwriting to those accounts needing a more thorough review; aligned with retention and distribution goals
  • Must understand CL goals and strategies (often changing) and execute on them effectively and have a positive track record of achievement.
