The Pulmonologist specializes in diagnosing, treating, and managing respiratory and lung conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, and other complex pulmonary disorders. This role involves conducting diagnostic tests, performing procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care. The Pulmonologist is committed to advancing patient health through expert clinical care and continuous professional development.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Pulmonologist job description is intended to point out major responsibilities within the role, but it is not limited to these items.Diagnose and treat respiratory and lung conditions such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and interstitial lung disease.Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including pulmonary function tests, chest X-rays, CT scans, and bronchoscopy.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications, recommending lifestyle changes, and providing respiratory therapy.Perform procedures such as bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).Provide critical care management for patients with severe respiratory illnesses in the ICU setting.Educate patients on disease management, prevention strategies, and post-treatment care.Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE(Licensures AND Certifications)Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.Completion of a 3-year residency in Internal Medicine.Completion of a 2-3-year fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine.Board certification or eligibility in pulmonary disease.State medical licensure for Florida.Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a pulmonology practice or hospital setting preferred.Experience in performing and interpreting pulmonary diagnostic tests and procedures.Proven experience in managing complex respiratory conditions and providing critical care.Ongoing commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIESIn-depth knowledge of respiratory and pulmonary diseases, diagnostic procedures, and treatment modalities.Skilled in performing pulmonary procedures and interpreting diagnostic tests.Strong commitment to patient education, empathy, and sensitivity to individual patient needs.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.Strong analytical skills to diagnose conditions and develop effective treatment plans.Meticulous in performing procedures, interpreting test results, and maintaining accurate medical records.Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients.As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome and employ a diverse employee group committed to meeting the needs of NeueHealth, our consumers, and the communities we serve.
