POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Membership Manager is responsible for but not limited to: delivering excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. The Membership Manager responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships, and programs, and creates a welcoming environment. Membership Managers are expected to act in a manner in line with the YMCA values and within the confines of the information listed above. As a Manager at the Y, you lead an environment that is inviting and serves all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Implement member service and engagement strategies that support the recruitment of new members and the retention of existing members in a welcoming environment.
  2. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  3. Lead Member Engagement team members in providing exemplary customer service through building relationships, assisting in reaching personal goals, and instilling a sense of belonging.
  4. Adheres to the organization's policies and procedures.
  5. Assists in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and development of team members.
  6. Assist with the facilitation of association membership trainings.
  7. Provides hands-on oversight while working 40% of time as direct service.
  8. Schedules and processes payroll functions.
  9. Supports budget development.
  10. Supports campaign efforts and donor engagement in the community and team members.
  11. Models' relationship building in all interactions through Listen First.
  12. Responds to all member and community inquires and/or complaints in a timely manner.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Minimum age 18 required.
  2. Minimum 2 years job related experience required.
  3. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid.
  4. New Employee Orientation and online trainings required withing 30 days of hire.
  5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Organized and detail oriented.
  8. Adept computer skills in Office 365.
  9. Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekend, and holidays. Required to be On-Call with predetermined schedule.
  10. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must have high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
