Job DescriptionInova Health System - Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a fellowship-trained, board-certified (or eligible) Spine surgeon to join our team for a full-time position in our Springfield/Woodbridge Locations. Inova Orthopedic Services leads the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC metro area in helping people with arthritis, orthopedic illness, trauma, or injury to regain their active lifestyles. Our four spine centers maintain Joint Commission Gold Seals for Spine Surgery.The Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine has 33 physicians, 7 office locations, outpatient surgery centers and co-located therapy clinics and supports Inova's five hospitals and large breadth of emergency and urgent care centers, outpatient services and destination institutes. This opportunity requires Fellowship training, and the position provides an opportunity to join a robust Spine Program and practice in a complex and growing Health SystemSpine surgeons joining the Department must have an active interest in collaborative diagnosis and treatment of Spine-related disorders in the context of a multi-disciplinary Department and complex Health System. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, physicians, and administration.Job Responsibilities Completes initial assessments and evaluations of new patients and provides ongoing monitoring of patients' medical conditions while providing treatment. Orders prescription medications and diagnostic procedures while authorizing and coordinating all specialty and ancillary services. Participates in the development of such programs as preventive health screenings, immunization programs, professional community outreach, quality assurance and others. Participates in a wide range of clinical research projects and studies. Participates in multidisciplinary team activities such as case conferences. Provides in-service staff development and clinical teachings to trainees rotating through medical practice. Maintains a consultative relationship with nurses, social workers, staff clinic nurses and rehabilitation staff. May perform other duties as assigned.
