Mount Laurel YMCA, 59 Centerton Road, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, United States of America Req 15455 POSITION PURPOSE Under the direction of the Maintenance Director/Assistant Maintenance Director, the Housekeeper/Custodian is expected to ensure effective cleanliness of all assigned facilities/projects which include pools, grounds, special projects, and general custodial maintenance. Responsibilities include cleaning walls, bathrooms, floors, equipment, and other areas of the facilities, disposing of waste, and sanitizing facilities in accordance with procedures. The role also involves assisting with the setup and breakdown of equipment, ensuring a safe, clean, and healthy environment, and providing a positive member experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Clean and sanitize walls, floors, furniture, and equipment utilizing the proper supplies and in accordance with product label instructions. Vacuum, sweep, and dust all areas, furniture, light fixtures, and other equipment. Routinely monitor trash and dispose of it in accordance with procedures. Monitor supplies of toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap; clean and repair dispensers. Address detail maintenance and cleaning issues, ensuring walls, ceilings, corners, ledges, and windows are clean. Set up and break down equipment as needed, ensuring all equipment for member programs is clean, sanitized, and in good working order. Report any concerns to the supervisor. Respond promptly to all emergency situations while maintaining the safety of all members, program participants, guests, and staff. Attend trainings as required. Maintain closets and shop areas in a neat, organized, and safe condition with all supplies and chemicals properly labeled. Wear proper uniform and maintain a neat, clean appearance; ensure member satisfaction. Perform other related duties as assigned. ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS 18 years old with a high school or technical high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Ability to operate cleaning equipment. Ensure the overall cleanliness of the facility. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to communicate information, instructions, and ideas effectively. Must be able to exchange accurate information between staff, members, children, and volunteers. Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling; ability to move 20 pounds independently and utilize the buddy system or team lift for heavier items. The person needs to occasionally move about the program area to access materials, members/program participants, emergency equipment, etc. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS The physical environment requires the employee to possibly work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure such as hearing protection and rubber gloves. Acquire and maintain the following certifications: CPR/AED/O2 (valid 2 years with exception of Aquatics to renew annually), First Aid (valid 2 years) obtained through the American Red Cross. Requisite OSHA online trainings (valid 1 year unless otherwise noted). Mandated Reporter Training (valid 5 years). Additional training and development specific to your role as referenced in the onboarding packet.
