The Pharmacist is responsible for receiving, reviewing and interpreting physician's orders, dispensing medication to patients and cooperatively managing a team of Pharmacy Technicians alongside other Pharmacists. Work is in a fast-paced environment primarily focused on compounding solid oral dose tablets and fulfilling orders for both in and out-of-state orders. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader seeking an environment that leverages technology and machinery, in addition to training and managing a team of 20-30+ technicians on any given day. Previous compounding experience is a major plus. Pharmacists’ schedules are currently staggered to provide coverage for nights Mon-Fri, and 8am-4:30p on Saturdays. Sundays are currently OFF. While the schedule is subject to change for this growing company, the company believes in proper work-life balance and has successfully recruited pharmacists who are looking for a change in environments from retail pharmacy. Paid lunch hour, stable hours, and a healthy work environment in addition to highly competitive compensation and fully-paid medical benefits are just some of the reasons you should consider applying to this position. The company also encourages all pharmacists to obtain out-of-state licensing where not already acquired and pays for the applicable testing and licenses. Responsibilities Supervise compounding performed by Pharmacy Technicians to ensure that these activities are in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable state and federal law. Review prescriptions issued by authorized prescribers. Oversee compounding procedures and dispensing of prescribed medications for patient care. Cooperatively manage chemical inventory and assess ingredients to determine identity, purity, and strength alongside fellow team members. Provide consultation (primarily telephonic/virtual) to patients and customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and medication storage. Supervise the maintenance and cleaning of the compounding environment, equipment, and tools. Report out-of-specification observations, deviations, and modifications to the Quality Control/Compliance Officer. Train other compounding pharmacy personnel on technique and procedures. Conduct or supervise environmental monitoring (e.g. recording temperatures, checking incubator samples, as applicable). Actively pursue personal licenses in other states and remain in good standing with the licensed states for non-resident pharmacy license. Ensure compliance with and remain current on USP standards. Requirements Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy. Registered Pharmacist in good standing with each state of practice. Minimally licensed in Illinois. Additionally, it would be desirable if you are licensed in numerous other states or otherwise capable of passing exams in an expedient manner. At least 5 years of hands-on pharmacy experience desired. Ability to take point and assist a capable QA and Compliance team when inspections arise. Must be able to wear a respirator and work with hazardous materials. Hands-on experience with non-sterile compounding preferred. Strong interpersonal skills for communication across all stakeholders regardless of title or position. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as dosage calculation, formulation of pharmaceutical preparations and data analysis. Ability to define problems, collect, analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Working knowledge of computer systems, including patient documentation systems. Creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial traits are a plus. Positive attitude and team player. Benefits Competitive salary. Medical and dental benefits (monthly premiums paid 100% by the company).
