Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Materials / Production Control Manager to oversee and optimize our material flow, inventory management, and production scheduling processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient use of our ERP system, driving purchasing initiatives to reduce cost and lead times, and coordinating projects involving purchased and manufactured parts. This position is crucial for maintaining customer satisfaction by ensuring timely product delivery and comprehensive scheduling of all components.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervises 2-3 team members.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee proper training and adherence to accurate work instructions in areas of customer order entry, purchasing, materials, and shipping.
  • Ensure full utilization of the ERP system (Infor Visual Manufacturing) by developing procedures for part entry and defining requirements such as warehouse, pricing, and product codes.
  • Manage and run MRP (Material Requirements Planning) for inventory and purchased items.
  • Drive production scheduling through MRP and backorder logs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate creation of Engineering Masters and work orders.
  • Lead purchasing to ensure timely delivery of components, support operations, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, solicit quotes and bids, and develop vendor tools for evaluation based on price, quality, and service.
  • Facilitate communication with customers, vendors, and team members, preparing necessary documents and leading biweekly production meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory/Shipping Manager to maintain inventory levels, organize finished goods, and ensure timely shipments.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S standards and safety rules.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Create training videos and documentation for company-wide access.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets to track cost-saving initiatives with vendors.
  • Attend educational seminars to enhance skills as required by the company.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Experience with INFOR Visual Manufacturing V10 an asset.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and scheduling processes.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, hardware specifications, and outside processes such as heat treating, plating, and painting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and occasional overtime, including weekends or holidays.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.

Working Conditions:
This role is primarily office-based, with occasional time spent in a production area. The production environment is unconditioned, with varying temperatures and loud noise levels that require hearing protection. Safety glasses and steel-toed shoes are mandatory when working on the shop floor. JSI/SPS will provide non-prescription safety glasses; employees are responsible for their safety shoes.
