Job Summary:

The Clinical Director is responsible for leading the daily clinical functions of the practice. The position provides direction and leadership to ensure Atlantic Eye Physicians exceeds expectations in the areas of patient care while improving efficiency. Principle responsibilities include operations, establishing and maintaining clinical standards of care; managing staff and resources, and maintaining compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations. The Clinical Director facilitates communication, coordination, and collaboration among disciplines regarding the planning and provision of high-quality, cost-effective patient care. The Clinical Director reports to the CEO and Operations Manager and supervises a team composed of Clinical Managers from each location.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Practice and Leadership

Work with the Clinical Managers in leading the day-to-day operation and coordination of patient care services of each clinic.
Conduct regular meetings with the clinical managerial team with the purpose of improving patient, provider, and staff satisfaction.
Analyze clinical practice and identify opportunities to increase quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
Assure that patient-centered care is provided within each clinic.
Maintain compliance with all clinical policies, procedures, and regulations.
Responsible for the implementation and training of all new ophthalmic equipment.
Identify and set up service/repair for diagnostic, other clinical equipment.
Oversee clinical ordering, inventory management, along with budgetary responsibility.
Submit reports and complete regulatory documentation as requested.
Clinical Staff Oversight:

Responsible for the recruitment, retention, performance reviews, and professional development related to clinical staff.
Responsible for training all clinical staff.
Responsible for staffing clinics in all locations.
Responsible for reviewing and approving payroll for all clinical staff.
Oversee the completion/ monitoring of staff competencies.
Engage in ongoing feedback on the effectiveness of staff members in their roles.
Fill in as senior technician when staffing is limited.
Personnel Management:

Collaborate with other department heads in order to provide service excellence and quality patient care.
Ensures effective verbal and written communication that is respectful of others, individualize, and issue-oriented with staff, patients, colleagues, and other disciplines.
Initiates timely conflict resolution strategies when dealing with staff, patient, and physical problems. Refers and documents significant recurring issues to HR, CEO, and/ or Operations Manager.
Works with accounting to reconcile clinic and contact lens supply orders.
Facilitate meetings with physicians for new ophthalmic products.
Qualifications/ Skills:

Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
Possession of analytical decision-making skills necessary to quickly assess and resolve complex logistical, technical, and patient care problems and issues.
Ability to train, motivate, and supervise subordinate staff.
Ability to address and manage conflict in a direct and professional manner.
Ability to collaborative relationships with providers.
High emotional intelligence as evidenced by the ability to evaluate/ perceive a situation from multiple lenses and understand various perspectives in coming to problem resolution.
Education/ Experience Requirements:

Minimum: High School Diploma, Bachelors degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as COA or COT.
Minimum of 4 years of leadership experience.
