Transportation Traffic Design Professional Engineer

Responsibilities: Design and develop transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway layouts, traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and lighting systems. Conduct traffic engineering analyses, including traffic impact studies, capacity analysis, and signal timing optimization. Provide technical expertise and guidance on ITS technologies, including traffic management systems, adaptive signal control, and connected vehicle applications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and project managers, to deliver integrated transportation solutions that meet client needs and project objectives. Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Conduct site visits and field investigations to assess existing conditions, identify design constraints, and propose effective solutions. Review and evaluate proposed transportation improvements and developments, providing recommendations and feedback to clients and regulatory agencies. Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering, and incorporate them into project designs and methodologies.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in FL; additional licensure in neighboring states is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on traffic design and ITS.

Proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as MicroStation and ORD. Synchro is a plus.

Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles, standards, and guidelines, including MUTCD, AASHTO, and ITE.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

Experience working with state and local transportation agencies, as well as private-sector clients, is highly desirable.
