Company Overview:

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our Transportation Market team. The Senior Project Engineer/Traffic Engineer will contribute expertise and leadership to projects involving the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and municipal initiatives.

Job Description:

The Senior Project Engineer/Traffic Engineer will engage in a diverse range of projects, collaborating with various clients. Responsibilities encompass safety planning and design, roundabouts, corridor studies and plans, traffic signal design, advanced ITS systems, and more. This role presents an opportunity for hands-on experience in the dynamic field of intelligent transportation systems and smart cities infrastructure.

Desired Skills and Experience:

8+ years’ experience as a Traffic Engineer.

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.

Ohio PE License is required. P.T.O.E. preferred.

Road Safety Professional certification is a plus.

Proficiency in MicroStation/Geopak/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

Familiarity with design-related software such as SignCad and AutoTurn.

Experience with HCS, Synchro/Simtraffic, VISSIM, TransModeler, SIDRA, and Rodel.

Knowledge of travel demand modeling is advantageous.

Basic or advanced GIS capabilities are desired.

Familiarity with MUTCD policies and procedures.

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.

Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of insurance.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Provide traffic engineering design for a variety of clients, including LPAs, DOT, and private entities.

Produce and review traffic impact studies, safety studies, and traffic forecasting.

Establish guidelines for cost estimates and review/approve estimates prepared by others.

Function as a Project Manager, demonstrating strong team, communication, and organization skills.

Serve as a subject matter expert, ensuring project understanding, approach, and technology meet client, regulatory, and best practices standards.

Independently develop projects and may be assigned as a subject matter expert.
