Description

SUMMARY

Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs printed circuit boards (PCBs) down to the component-level for a wide variety of equipment including AC drives, DC drives, variable frequency drives, power supplies, HMI/touchscreens, electronic counters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), relays, input/output modules, and other industrial electronic equipment. Performs functional tests when able to validate the repair and make final adjustments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment to determine component-level needs for repair and/or replacement.
  • Hand solder surface mount and through-hole components to complete repairs.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other specialized equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose failures.
  • Read and interpret engineering instructions, technical manuals, customer specifications and/or other documented work instructions, including schematics or drawings, when available.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and members of the engineering team when necessary.
  • Update progress notes in the designated system to document the steps taken to repair the unit.
  • Abide by all OSHA and company-specific safety standards.
  • Maintain company and/or customer required performance documentation and maintenance records for specified unit/customer.
  • Communicate with multiple departments regarding the status of the unit, including Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and IT.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work area.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leadership.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Requires a two-year degree in electronics or related technical discipline or equivalent related work experience or combination of training, education, and experience.
  • 4-8 years of industrial electronic experience
  • Previous experience with test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, Huntron, Pinpoint, IC programmers or test fixtures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic devices and individual components without schematics or documented test procedures.
  • Ability to solder/desolder components.
  • Ability to read and understand component data sheets, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Ability to cross reference electronic components.
  • Ability to follow oral and written policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of productivity while achieving quality workmanship to achieve established metrics.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels and cross functionally.

  • Frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Frequent use of hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc.
  • Occasional computer work.
  • Consistent attendance with occasional off-shift support required.
  • Occasional travel is equivalent to less than 5% of the time.
