About being our Tech Services Intern
As our Tech Services Intern, you will receive hands-on experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), data analytics, and information technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in technology, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and develop skills across multiple technical domains.
Responsibility Highlights for our Tech Services Intern
- Assist in the creation, updating, and maintenance of GIS datasets.
- Support field data collection and integration into GIS platforms.
- Collaborate with team members to design and implement GIS solutions for clients.
- Assist in the development of data models and predictive analytics.
- Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of software products ranging from configurable off-the-shelf (COTS) and fully customized.
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting software applications.
- Assist in developing scripts and small-scale programs to automate repetitive tasks and processes.
- Collaborate with the team to integrate scripts with existing software solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and follow best practices in coding and documentation.
- Participate in project planning and team meetings.
- 3rd or 4th year student, majoring in GIS, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Geography, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience or coursework in programming or scripting
- Knowledgeable in GIS software (e.g., Esri ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data concepts.
- Familiarity with software development practices, version control systems (e.g., Git), and basic IT concepts.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and IT security practices.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
