Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate with regional, group and site functions for timely reporting of environmental data into central tracking system and develop and maintain local programs to meet company, environmental/sustainability goals.
  • Implement and maintain an effective third-party certified ISO 14001 environmental program at the site to assure compliance with applicable compliance obligations, internal company requirements and to minimize the site's impact to the environment. Act as the local management representative for the certified ISO 14001 system.
  • Position is responsible for the identification, development, and delivery of all applicable environmental training programs for site personnel.
  • Responsible for completion and timely submittals of all regulatory reports including, but not limited to: Title V air reports, EPCRA 313/312 reports, Hazardous Waste reporting, Federal GHG Reporting, wastewater reporting, stormwater reporting and other environmental legal reports applicable to the site.
  • Maintain the site's Title V air permit including obtaining all required construction, preconstruction permits and required Title V operating permit modifications for new and modified sources at the site. Coordinate with site operations to maintain all required air emission monitoring, testing and recordkeeping systems as required by the permit.
  • Manage the site's hazardous waste management program for large quantity generators (LQG) to meet regulatory requirements and to minimize impacts to the environment
  • Manage the site's wastewater and stormwater discharge program to meet all permit requirements including monitoring, testing, recordkeeping and reporting as required and as applicable to the site.
  • Coordinate and encourage employee involvement in overall environmental programs at all levels of the site.
  • Coordinate with site staff for annual budget activities and assure that accurate reports to management are produced.
  • Coordinate compliance programs and provide regular reports to management regarding compliance status, the cost of compliance, and the results of inspections.
  • Support the activities of the plant through effective communication with group/regional functions, site operations and/or outside agencies.
  • Implement, maintain, and coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities including the Integrated Contingency Plan, Emergency Action Plan, SPCC plan, SWPPP plan and arrangement with local emergency response authorities.

Qualifications Required:
  • BS Degree in engineering or related environmental science
  • Working knowledge of Title V/PSD/NSR air programs, NPDES wastewater/stormwater requirements and EPCRA programs
  • Some knowledge of SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA and Chemical Security program requirements
  • Excellent planning and communications skills & able to work at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical, innovative, and strategic competencies
  • Proficiency with all programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Occasional travel
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Demonstrated ability in innovative, developing, and results oriented competencies.


Qualifications Desired:
  • Current RCRA Hazardous waste management training
  • Method 9 Opacity certification
  • Class 1 (minimum) Wastewater Operator training or license
  • Candidate will be required to obtain a NC Class 1 WW Operators license for this position
  • Current DOT training (per regulatory requirements)
