  • Works with the Department Director to maintain accurate departmental files, manuals and records. Transcribes staff meeting note and enters into File.
  • API-approve time cards, enter PTO and trouble shoot for corrections. Manage payroll corrections sheets for audits.
  • Performs all duties confidentially.
  • Maintains appropriate supply levels. Orders supplies for all areas including Central Sterile.
  • Performs clerical duties that contribute to the overall efficiency of the department.
  • Must be able to seek and identify problems that are interfering with patient care delivery and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Uses standard precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment when working around or handling hazardous substances.
  • Performs front desk secretarial duties such as answering the phone, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, and maintaining files and other duties as assigned.
  • Recognizes potential or real problems as they arise, presents workable solutions, and participates in their implementation as a contributing member of the healthcare team.
  • Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion and respect for all patients, families and visitors.
  • Demonstrates Competency in the development of cooperative and supportive relationships within the unit and other units to ensure the interprofessional goals are met.
  • Participates in quality and safety and Process Improvement initiatives. Identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Helps keep accurate daily and monthly stat reports for volume reporting
  • Email reports to designated recipients
  • Maintain other essential reports for the department as needed.
  • Demonstrates competency in, but not limited to, the following in the Operating Room (refer to McLeod Health Organizational Learning Secretary Competency Checklist):
  • Assigned Access Control Applications
  • Emergency Management (HICS)
  • Environment
  • Safety(Maintains Safety Book) Help Coordinate Quarterly Departmental Fire Drills and Bi-Annual Malignant Hyperthermia Drills
  • Communication(Helps create and maintain a communication Board)

Qualifications /Training

  • 2 years secretarial experience / 5 years' experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Must have computer based knowledge
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to department as evidenced in work habits.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education

  • HS diploma/GED from an accredited school, preferred

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly
