The Country Store is the retail division of Skagit Farmers Supply, a diversified local agricultural supply cooperative. The company was founded in Burlington, WA in 1934. We have grown and developed into four business divisions: agronomy, retail, energy, and wholesale distribution & milling. Our Country Stores provide quality goods and services for all “Farm-Pet-Home” needs We operate nine retail stores in Washington and one in Montana. We encourage you to consider joining our knowledgeable staff today while enjoying a friendly work-life balance JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Greet and consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise • Demonstrate and explain merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for customers’ needs • Answer customers questions about merchandise and assist customers with purchase decisions • Accurately complete sales using the POS system according to established procedures • Organize and effectively merchandise items for sale • Stock and rotate product • Assist in keeping the store clean • Assemble and organize products and displays • Assist customers with loading and unloading products as needed • Process returns and exchanges • Utilize customer-focused selling skills, add-on selling, closing skills, and other sales generating skills • Exhibit an ability to get along with others • Practice punctual and reliable attendance • Perform other duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma (or equivalent) • Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record • Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment • Physical ability to stand for extended periods; bend, stoop and kneel frequently • Lift, carry and load 60 pounds (minimum) weight requirements • Professional appearance and demeanor • Proven track record of being dependable and reliable • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with co-workers and customers • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills • Commitment to high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding customer service PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience working in a retail setting • Product knowledge in one or more of the following areas: feed, seed, pet food & supplies, horse/equine, hardware, fencing, lawn & garden supplies, animal health, tack, clothing & footwear, or wild bird supplies. SCHEDULE This is a full-time position (schedule may vary). 40 hours per week. Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS $16.80 – $19.80/hour.
