Procurement Manager

The Procurement Manager directs and oversees all procurement activities including Buying, Expediting, Sub-Contract Administration, Vendor Document Management, and office Support Services. The Procurement Manager also ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of materials, equipment, services and labor to a project.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the application of the appropriate team members and procedures to the Procurement requirements of Projects
- Directs, trains, and oversees the work of project purchasing staff who are engaged in the purchasing of materials, equipment, services, and labor at competitive prices and terms as required by the project
- Collaborates with clients, project management and subcontractors on major issues to ensure that project purchasing requirements are met and that problems are resolved in a timely fashion
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Preparing requests for information, requests for quotation, and requests for purchase; obtaining and distributing quotes in support of estimates and expediting activities; and, preparing detailed commercial bid evaluations for competitively bid packages
- Expediting approval drawings and vendor production schedules while maintaining project schedule and confirming no delays
- Tracking/troubleshooting vendor data, drawings, equipment/ materials quotes and delivery schedules, between engineering, purchasing, vendors, and construction site
- Negotiation and purchase all capital equipment, including structural steel, piping, electrical and instrumentation, as well as administration of subcontracts for field work
- Maintains, recommends and creates policies and procedures to govern project procurement work
- Develops with Project Clients the strategies and tactics to optimize contract negotiations with domestic and international suppliers; obtains agreements on pricing, delivery, and other commercial terms
- Identifies and screens potential suppliers and recommends appropriate sourcing method
- Forecast and control Procurement budgets and development of man-hour estimates
- Associates Degree in Business Administration, technical field, or equivalent experience
- 10 or more years of experience in procurement with at least 5 years in a lead purchasing position on industrial projects
- CPP and/or CPPM highly preferred
- Experience in the engineering industry highly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals with differing knowledge levels
- Resourcefulness as well as time-management skills
