Are you passionate about API design and development? Do you have experience building, deploying, and maintaining large-scale, distributed systems? Are you ready to leverage your skills to drive innovation in a supportive, entrepreneurial environment?
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in APIs, you will play a critical role in architecting and maintaining the services that power our platform. You will use your deep expertise in service-oriented architecture to design scalable, reliable, and secure APIs. You are committed to engineering excellence, employing automated testing and continuous integration as productivity multipliers. You have a strong desire to understand complex systems and a drive to make them work better. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to scope, design, and build new API functionalities, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Your primary focus will be on backend development using Go, with a willingness to support frontend integration where necessary.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve customer challenges through robust API solutions.
- Take ownership of designing and developing high-performance, scalable APIs that support our partner integrations and core services.
- Lead by example, promoting engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship within the team.
- Enhance the reliability and scalability of our high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure.
- Implement and optimize internal services to support seamless service-to-service communication.
- Continuously improve our testing, monitoring, and continuous deployment infrastructure to ensure the resilience and security of our APIs.
- Ensure that sensitive data handled by our APIs remains secure and compartmentalized.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including contributing to frontend integration efforts when needed.

- Minimum of 5 years of professional hands-on experience in software development, specifically with API design and implementation.
- Expert proficiency in Go, with extensive experience in building and scaling high-performance RESTful APIs.
- In-depth understanding of OAuth2, MySQL, Docker, Redis, and service-oriented architectures, with a proven track record of implementing and optimizing these technologies in production environments.
- Significant experience with OpenAPI specifications and service-to-service communication, including the ability to lead the design and documentation of API contracts.
- Proven leadership experience in guiding architectural decisions and mentoring junior engineers.
- Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails and a willingness to contribute to or oversee its integration within the broader system.
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks, particularly Vue.js, to support integration and collaboration with frontend teams, with the ability to contribute to full-stack solutions as needed.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design, with the ability to apply this knowledge to solve complex problems at scale.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodology in a fast-paced environment, with a history of delivering on deadlines and milestones in a high-growth setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, driving the successful delivery of complex projects.

The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $167,500.00 to $205,000.00 per year.
Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
