Alpine Electronics of America, Inc is seeking a Buyer II to join team in our McAllen, Texas office.

The Buyer II will be responsible for the coordination of the sourcing and localization of parts for new program development for the Buyers assigned commodities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* This position requires the ability to perform the assigned job responsibilities with moderate interaction with the Supervisor.

* This position conducts cost analysis, participates in negotiations, builds supplier development and provides cost down activities as defined by management.

* Analyze the production requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, supplier capability, logistics and cost analysis.

* Effectively utilize project management knowledge in identifying key activities, establishing milestones, recording event requirements, and maintaining and distributing this plan accordingly.

* Solicits and evaluates quote proposals for the requested commodity. Investigates and/or audits potential suppliers to determine if they can meet the specified requirements.

* Makes recommendations for supplier selection based upon department and company objectives in local procurement of the commodity.

* Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.

* Completes detailed process audit during development phase prior to mass-production.

* Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.

* Coordinates appropriate methods needed to achieve annual cost reduction targets set forth by the Purchasing department.

* Ensure punctual attendance per defined work schedule and comply with the attendance policy for time reporting, break periods, and overtime if applicable.

* Positions that fall under the functions of Product Development, Legal, HR, IT and Executive Management are required to exercise a higher level confidentiality and discretion in handling information the positions have access to.

* Provide support toward the certification and ensure compliance to customer required quality management systems (TISAX, TS16949, IATF, etc..)

* This position will drive for company business.

* Other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree and two years of job related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Automotive sourcing experience preferable.

* Knowledge of cost analysis techniques and contract law

* Strong negotiations skills

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal communication.

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.

* Strong work ethic.

* Strong math skills.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

* Ability to use independent judgment and to maintain and manage confidential information.

* Ability to collect information, research an issue and creatively solve problems.

* Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and stay within budget.

* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

* Ability to develop and present proposals.

* Ability to think strategically and analyze the market and competition.

* Should be a self-motivated team player who demonstrates initiative and flexibility.

* A valid U.S. drivers license and auto insurance are required during employment in this position.
