Description

The St. Joseph Catholic Academy is a nonprofit corporation providing a PreK-12 education ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, Missouri and is formed in collaboration among the St. Joseph parishes. While there is a rich history of parish schools that date back over 100 years in the community, those campuses are now part of one family. The campuses include St. Gianna Early Childhood Center, Cathedral School, St. Francis Xavier School, St. James School and Bishop Leblond High School.

Position Summary

The K-8 Athletic Director coordinates the Kindergarten-8th grade school sports program for St. Joseph Catholic Academy.

Essential Duties

•Work with the administrative team to continue to enhance the mission of St. Joseph Academy, particularly through student participation in extracurricular activities

•Represent St. Joseph Academy in all League and MSHSAA meetings and events

•Ensure that all coaching positions are filled with competent and properly trained coaches who are committed to the mission of St. Joseph Academy

•Organize coaches' meetings at the beginning of each season

•Manage the coordination of required Virtus Training for all coaches and sponsors

•Ensure that all student-athletes have turned in required forms/paperwork

•Develops, manages, and supervises the Academy's Athletic and Activities programs

•Communicate with both students and parents regarding appropriate expectations for each level of competition

•Assist coaches with parent meetings at the beginning of each season

•Schedule all athletic events with coaches for all levels of competition

•Oversee the distribution, collection, storage, upkeep, and replacement of all the Academy's athletic uniforms and equipment

•Ensure that all athletic equipment, facilities, fields, and courts are safe for daily use

•Ensure that athletic fields and facilities are prepared for hosting athletic contests

•Coordinate weekly facility schedule so coaches can plan practices and games

•Secure the necessary number of qualified officials for each home contest

•Coordinate annual departmental budget with SJCA administration

•Perform other duties as determined by the SJCA administration

•Ability to be part of a collaborative environment to integrate the faith into all aspects of sports and activities.

•Ability to work with parents and students to create the best environment in extracurricular activities at St. Joseph Academy.

•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

•Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.

•Positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor.

•Requires evening and weekend commitments

Education and Experience

•Relevant experience in an athletics-related role in an educational environment.
