Job Description - Research Enrollment Coordinator l BWH Personalized Medicine (3299492) The Mass General Brigham (MGB) Biobank is a large research program designed to help researchers understand how people’s health is affected by their genes, lifestyle, and environment. Biobank Coordinators help patients make informed decisions about participating in the MGB Biobank research program. They assist in educating and recruiting patients seen at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) outpatient and inpatient practices. Responsibilities include patient education for varying levels of health literacy, obtaining consent, and explaining all aspects of the consent form and procedures to patients of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Additionally, they maintain patient and survey data and work with physicians and clinic staff to ensure recruitment activities fit within clinic flow. Principal duties may vary over time with grant funding and project demands, and with the skill level of other staff assigned to projects. This position provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic clinical research setting with a specific focus on personalized medicine. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Recruit potential study participants at different clinics at BWH and track approaches using specialized software. Assist with responding to patient and staff inquiries about the Mass General Brigham Biobank. Assist Project Manager to implement patient recruitment strategies. Assist in preparation and shipment of drawn samples to the central facility. Assist with the development, organization, and maintenance of the study database. Responsible for data validation and quality control. Coordinate with Consent Tracking to ensure proper subject identification. Support collaborating studies with recruitment, collection, and management of the study database as needed. Recommend changes to research protocols to improve recruitment and collection rates. Assist with clinic expansion at new clinics or sites. Perform all other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required: Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients from varied backgrounds, MDs, researchers, and other team members. Ability to prioritize and organize work responsibilities to meet deadlines. Integrity to maintain confidentiality. Accuracy in recording data. Strong database management and overall computer skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Education: High School diploma required. BS or BA degree or equivalent preferred. Experience: 1-2 years of related experience preferred but not required. Spanish fluency preferred but not required. Experience obtaining consent from patients preferred.
