We work together to enhance peoples' lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.SUMMARYProvide engineering support to production, maintenance, project and technical departments to ensure improvements in instrument & control systems reliability and to resolve repetitive instrument-related problems.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:•Recommend and specify instrumentation for various process measurement applications.•Provide technical support to Maintenance, Operations and Environmental groups on instrumentation issues.•Develop job scopes and drawing packages for small instrumentation/electrical projects.•Provide support to Project Group on specification of instrumentation for capital projects.•Review project design packages for proper design regarding reliability, application and maintenance requirements.•Maintain instrumentation database, which includes tag, manufacturer, model, calibration and calibration history information.•Ensure proper documentation on all instrumentation/electrical equipment including equipment files, drawings, specifications, calibration sheets, manuals, etc.•Maintain technical expertise and keep abreast of instrumentation technology/design changes as they apply to potential plant equipment/production improvements.•Work to improve reliability of process gas chromatograph and mass spectrometry analyzers. Provide technical support for analyzer additions and upgrades.•Support the AMS (asset management system) in assigned area to improve reliability with predictive maintenance actions.•Continue buildout of the wireless instrumentation system in assigned area.•Work to improve reliability of process control valves. Develop plans for monitoring performance and addressing problem areas. Assist Maintenance in development of repair/upgrade scopes for major turnarounds.ADDITIONAL DUTIES •Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.•Comply with all Company policies and procedures.•Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams. •Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.•Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of others. Promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental issues or incidents to management. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS•A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.•B.S. Degree in Engineering (electrical or chemical discipline preferred)•3 year's industrial engineering experience - work in a refinery, chemical or petrochemical plant performing engineering responsibilities is a plus. •Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or moveup to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office, but can be high outside. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Inside exposure includes but not limited to A/C 90% of the time. Outside exposure includes but not limited to outside elements 10% of the time. May be exposed to finished carpet, tile/linoleum and/or outside concrete or gravel. Job may require working in both closed and open quarters.
