The Prismatic platform puts an enormous amount of power in the hands of less-technical users by providing them a cohesive system for the development, testing, deployment, and monitoring of integrations. At the heart of this system is the Integration Designer, which is a visual low-code/no-code editor that facilitates the development of integration workflows through an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. All of this is made possible thanks to an extensive GraphQL API that is built atop Django, Graphene, and a host of other awesome modern technologies. This API is used not only by the Prismatic web app, but by the Prismatic CLI, Prismatic Terraform provider, and even directly within our users' applications and CI/CD pipelines to completely streamline and tailor the experience to their exact specifications.

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is excited to work as part of a fully remote team to build new functionality, improve performance, and scale out the Prismatic GraphQL API to handle our quickly growing user base.

You will...

Extend the existing GraphQL API with new queries, mutations, etc. to enable new features and capabilities
Play a key role in the design of the database table structure and caching strategies with an eye toward performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
Participate in on-call and own the reliability and performance of Prismatic products
Routinely provide sound feedback in code reviews, design reviews, security reviews, etc.
Discover and advocate for new techniques and technologies to accelerate improvements in the reliability and scalability of the Prismatic API
Collaborate with other teammates to improve our existing tools and integrate new tools to improve our internal DX and increase team efficiency
Coach and mentor less experienced teammates
Be part of a highly collaborative, fully remote team that ships new code into production every day

You might be a good fit if you...

Have 3+ years of experience in a senior engineering role
Have 5+ years of professional experience writing Python as a primary language
Have 3+ years of professional experience working with Django, Flask, or similar
Are highly proficient at database schema design and confidence discussing zero downtime migration strategies
Have used GraphQL professionally and are confident discussing its concepts
Have an interest in expanding your grasp of platform support and upkeep
Have a positive attitude, an aptitude for learning, and generally look for solutions instead of focusing only on problems
Are located within 2 time zones of the US Central Time Zone
Are comfortable and effective working as part of a fully remote team
Can pass a background check
Legally authorized to work in the United States

Have professional experience with some of the following:
PostgresQL
Redis
Django
Graphene
AWS (Lambda, SQS, S3, ECS, etc.)
Have demonstrable experience shipping GraphQL APIs into production
Can talk in detail about the Django ORM and migration system
Have a GitHub or similar that you're proud to show off
