What you will do:

The Medical Staff Credentialing department is paramount in assuring patient safety through the credentialing and recredentialing verification process for all providers, (physicians and mid-level providers) at Samaritan and St. Peter's Hospitals. The Credentialing Liaison is responsible for verification of providers training, competence, and proper licensure that enables them to maintain Medical Staff privileges and to provide high quality health care service to our patients. The Credentialing Liaison is obligated to maintain the confidentiality of all Medical Staff related information and ensuring compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, accrediting and regulatory agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the New York State Department of Health. The Medical Staff Credentialing department maintains a survey ready attitude and the Credentialing Liaison is expected to uphold these standards. The Credentialing Liaison should exercise independent judgement and problem-solving skills when processing applications and involve the Manager as needed for further discussion. In addition, the Credentialing Liaison is responsible for but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:
  • Processing initial applications and/or recredentialing applications
  • Review and analyze applications to prepare for applicable review (i.e., Section Chief, Department Chair, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Officer) and coordinate review of such files
  • Respond to all 2805-K New York State verification requests in a timely manner (within 24-48 hours)
  • Maintain tracking system for follow-up of unanswered correspondence to maintain departmental standards for application processing time(s)
  • Prepares for and attends monthly Credentials Committee meetings as requested
  • Organize and maintain provider files in accordance with established departmental principles and guidelines
  • Respond to all provider correspondence (email, phone, etc) in a timely manner (24-48 hours)
  • Perform other related administrative duties or take on assignments as required
What you will need:
  • High School diploma / GED required
  • Associate's degree in business or health care administration preferred
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.


Pay Range: $20.20 - $26.93

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
