Lead Island Ops Rural

This position is hourly (non-exempt). The hourly rate for this position is $26.37. This is a Union position with 1 opening.
Leads the Island Operations-Rural staff in fulfilling all functions of the operation assigned by the Supervisor. Performs as lead worker for the team to manage the overall operation, organization, development, and maintenance of all Island Operations-Rural operations. Properly operates all equipment and hand tools and performs work on various assigned projects. Works with the Supervisor and is responsible for oral and written reports on activities assigned by the Supervisor and management staff.

Supervises: Equipment Operators and Landscape Workers

Essential Duties
- Direct and oversee the daily work and work assignments of the Island Operations-Rural operation.
- Remain knowledgeable in all phases of work under jurisdiction. Direct the employees assigned to work under jurisdiction.
- Inform the Supervisor of any work discrepancies or equipment malfunctions. Monitor and notify the Supervisor of the condition of the equipment.
- Direct employees to ensure that the equipment is properly maintained. Ensure that the maintenance of the equipment is performed on a regular basis.
- Report any equipment repair order requests to Fleet Maintenance. Follow up with Fleet Maintenance on repairs.
- Train and/or assist in training of employees.
- Perform work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees, and with proper care and protection of Company property.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualification/Requirements:
- Must have minimum of 5 years of experience in operating various types of heavy equipment.
- Previous experience as a lead or supervisor is preferred.
- Working knowledge in Outlook, Word, and Excel is preferred.
- Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
- Requires organizational skills.
- Requires working to established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
- Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
- Requires the ability to follow oral and writteninstructions.
- Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
- Ability to create effective working relationships with employees.
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
- Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
- The employee is occasionally required to operate objects, tools, or controls.
