The Electrical Engineer III is responsible for preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and studies of electrical systems for ground mount utility-scale solar PV power plants. This position will ensure that designs conform to AHJ codes and/or Owner specifications and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure design compatibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evaluate electrical system requirements for utility-scale solar PV power plants
  • Direct and/or develop electrical layouts using AutoCAD
  • Develop electrical studies and calculations using ETAP
  • Direct Electrical Designers and Engineers to prepare and revise electrical drawings and calculations
  • Participate in 'Page Turn' reviews with construction and project management teams
  • Provide construction support during the project execution phase
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited university
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Minimum eight (8) years relevant work experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with application of NFPA 70 (NEC)
  • Ability to perform electrical studies using ETAP software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable presenting to and interacting with consultants, authorities with jurisdiction, and customers
  • Experience with design of solar PV projects (desired)
  • Experience with electric utilities (desired)
  • Ability to obtain out-of-state PE license(s)
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some tasks assigned at outdoor solar plant sites.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for the entire duration of a workday.
