UTS- Temporary Program Coordinator at UNC Chapel Hill

Primary Purpose of this Position:

Reporting to the Sr. Director/Assistant Director of Student Access, Success, and Engagement, the Program Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the Student Access, Success, and Engagement team. The Program Coordinator will manage and provide day-to-day oversight of diversity and multicultural programs within the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion. As the Program Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the development, implementation, and growth of new and existing innovative and creative cultural programs aimed at advancing the mission, vision, and initiatives of UODI. Through the cultivation of mutually beneficial partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, the Program Coordinator will seek creative opportunities to transform the Universitys culture across student, faculty, and staff populations with an emphasis on making cultural competency a part of the Carolina experience. To facilitate these programs, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for aiding with conceptualizing, developing, implementing, and executing innovative program strategies and goals, ensuring alignment with those of UODI and the Universitys strategic plan.
The Program Coordinator will be charged with conceptualizing, coordinating, and administering events, communications, and new initiatives, continuously evaluating programs and initiatives through the collection of data and analysis of metrics to seek opportunities for enhancements. The Program Coordinator will act as the central point of contact for cultural programming and diversity/inclusion initiatives for UODI and will be responsible for upholding the Universitys model and best practices for cultural and diversity/inclusion programs and initiatives. As such, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for leading the day-to-day program operations for the student access, success, and engagement programs. This includes the management of student personnel, policies, and procedures, as well as the management and coordination of UODI events (i.e. MLK Week of Celebration, Project Uplift, Uplift PLUS, BLDG series) throughout the year.
The primary responsibilities of the Program Coordinator will be to assist the Assistant Director in all
facets and functions of developing programs, supporting strategic initiatives, and special projects related to creating an inclusive campus community. The Program Coordinator will support diversity programs and initiatives, manage the UODI Student Ambassadors program, facilitate programmatic collaboration with other departments and offices, and support the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion and its programs. The position will be responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of creative and comprehensive educational programs that incorporate identity, leadership, and community into programming and student development. The position will work collaboratively with the Assistant Director and leadership to assist with the planning and execution of campus-wide DEI programs and cultural celebrations, including MLK Week of Celebration, Project Uplift, Uplift PLUS, and BLDG series. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will manage, advise, and coordinate activities for the UODI Student Ambassador Program.
Other essential duties
The Program Coordinator position will back up and work alongside the Assistant Directors to manage, administer and coordinate student access, success, and engagement programming including but not limited to MLK Jr. Week of Celebration, Project Uplift, Uplift PLUS, and BLDGseries.
Independently coordinate programmatic activities and functions within a university program.
Coordinate the day-to-day functions of a program, plan and organize activities, and communicate and interpret program policy and procedures.
Work directly with the Assistant Director to identify relevant topics, appropriate speakers,
campus partners, and materials needed for a variety of programs and initiatives. Provide support from development through implementation.
Support logistics for programs and events. Responsibilities may include supporting events on the day of, including welcoming guests, event registration, directing event set-up, communicating with staff and vendors, and managing take-down.
Responsible for the daily administrative functions of UODI programming, not limited to,
managing the email accounts, providing updated content for the website, and drafting post-program
reports, updating program materials, and maintaining program accounts and records.
Serve as the main program contact, plan and coordinate program activities, manage events, and problem-solving process and procedural issues.
Establish expectations and clear directions for a defined program area independently.
Make decisions regarding the program expectations and direction to ensure program outcomes and timelines are met.
Ability to adjust program priorities based on changing work environments and deadlines.
Identify trends in program operations or activities and make recommendations.
Student Engagement

Serve as the primary advisor for the UODI Student Ambassador program.
Collaborate with UODI staff to coordinate Student Ambassador hiring, training, and retreat
Work with Student Ambassadors to plan programs and organize events; provide support for initiatives that promote intersectionality and collaborative efforts in the units functional areas.
Ensure opportunities for Student Ambassadors to participate in extra- and co-curricular student experiences.
Develop leadership training programs, seminars, and workshops for Student Ambassadors.
Works with UODI leadership in developing policies related to the oversight of the Student Ambassador program.
