Represent the EHS pillar in a site with a focus on safety. Ensure local, regional and national regulatory requirements are met and initiatives are implemented, utilized and developed within the site. Support the local management in implementing defined initiatives.

The Plant Safety Manager provides leadership and direction to achieve the safety workplace vision, through management commitment and employee ownership. Establish a behavioral based safety culture and leads employees and management to implement and execute safety culture. Ensure safety and environmental health system effectively address facilities risk profile. Independently takes action to drive continual improvement in both Safety and Health performance and practices, while managing complex problems and coordinating the implementation of innovative solutions.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Implement Aptars global EHS Management System and corresponding Global, Regional and site-level strategies.
Ensure communication is effective and timely; EHS reporting is made according to Aptar policy.
Collaborate with other functions and key stakeholders to create and support internal and external networking.
Maintain and improve upon existing safety and health related programs and activities.
Lead the implementation of behavioral based safety programs.
Identify and abate hazardous conditions or actions at plant, which may cause injury, illness or property damage.
Advises plant management to establish changes in safety objectives and plan programs to achieve objectives and integrate safety into the culture of the organization.
Assist the region in managing safety programs, planning, organizing, budgeting, training and tracking execution of activities to achieve safety objectives.
Support the plant leadership in meeting their safety obligations.
Conduct EHS audits for site level EHS compliance audits, addressing findings through to closure and corrective action planning to maintain compliance.
Ensure mandatory safety and health standards are satisfied.
Maintain safety and environmental metrics for the site.
Work with engineering to control hazards such as noise, chemical exposures, or environmental hazards.
Ensure procedures are in place to protect Aptar from any undesirable release of harmful materials into the air, water or soil. Remain aware of the regulatory landscape.
Perform accident investigations to determine the facts related to an accident or incident based on witness interviews, site inspection and collection of other evidence and report findings.
Organize, train and coordinate employees with regard to emergency situations; fires, natural disasters, first aid, CPR, or other safety or environmental related incidents.
Education
o Bachelors degree and equivalent experience. A degree in Safety and Environmental Management preferred.
Experience

:
o 5+ years experience in managing safety, health and environmental issues.
o Current knowledge of emerging EHS legislation regionally and experience proactively respond to legislation change.
o Significant and proven experience auditing against EHS management systems.
Skills
o Capability to train people in EHS methodologies
o Project management Skills
o Ability to translate complex information into simple action
o Strong results orientation, leadership capabilities and overall structured way of working
o Ability to collaborate an influence others without a direct reporting relationship.
o Very strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
