Our ideal candidate has previous internship or coursework experience related to construction management. You should be adept at navigating the complexities of construction projects and possess a solid understanding of construction practices and regulations.

General Overview:

The Project Engineer plays an entry level role in the development and coordination of all documentation, job scheduling, cost controlling, and client management of an assigned project. This position works closely with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager ensuring that projects are completed successfully, safely, and efficiently, while maintaining high-quality standards.

The Project Engineer position is the first level Operations Project Management career series.

Description of Duties:
  • Assists in the review of RFI's for accuracy and compliance prior to issuance to the Design Team and Owner.
  • Processes all RFI responses and posts to plans accordingly.
  • Reports on Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
  • Reviews and processes project submittals and shop drawings for conformance with the project plans and specifications.
  • Assists in developing submittal log; maintains submittal log once developed.
  • Coordinates and confirms trade buyout with the Project Manager.
  • Reviews and drafts subcontract scopes, purchase orders, sales contracts, and similar purchase agreements as required for final approval by the Project Manager.
  • Assists in the processing of trade partner payments.
  • Assists with preparation of prime contract and subcontract change orders in conjunction with the project team.
  • Issues trade partner change orders as required for the project and enters such change orders into job cost system.
  • Assists in developing Daily Reports in conjunction with the Superintendent.
  • Assists in developing reports for the client on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Assists the Project Manager and Superintendent with master project schedule updates.
  • Assist the Superintendent in the development and distribution of the three week "look ahead" schedules.
  • Assists the Superintendent with correspondence or other follow-up.
  • Assists with SWPPP and Air Quality Control documents.
  • Maintain computer data and files in an accurate and orderly manner.
  • Monitors as-built drawing progress.
  • Supports administrative closeout of project, coordinates closeout requirements with Project Team, archives project files upon completion.
  • Active participation and execution of Quiring's Safety Program to maintain a healthy and injury-free work environment.
  • Participation in training and company meetings as appropriate to facilitate individual and company growth.
  • Promote goodwill between Quiring and its suppliers/trade partners.
  • Build and maintain exceptional client and team member relationships.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Previous internship or coursework related to construction management.
  • Ability to create and support team morale.
  • Ability to strategize, problem solve, and plan.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with project management software (Vista or similar) and scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar),
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business or related field
Working Conditions:

This position is assigned to an active construction site. There will be regular and daily exposure to hazardous materials, noisy environments, and weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, and wind. PPE, including hard hats, protective eye wear and appropriate footwear is required to be worn while on the active site.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around construction sites for extended periods, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 25 pounds or more.
  • Capacity to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Agility and balance to navigate uneven terrain and construction site obstacles.
  • Ability to work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms, while adhering to proper safety protocols.
  • Physical fitness and endurance to maintain productivity and safety throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection, as required by job tasks and safety regulations.
