Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care in Palos Heights, Illinois . Job Description: Administer and coordinate respiratory care procedures and modalities in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Utilize evidence-based practices, clinical decision making, and skilled communication to lead efforts in creating the safest patient environment and best patient experience across the continuum. Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, assist physicians with bedside or other procedures as applicable, and provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order. Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshoot issues, and identify the need for service and/or repair. Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management. Collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients and adapt to policies and procedures for various service areas. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients, ensuring their safety and comfort. Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient care activities. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance respiratory care services. Licensure and Certification: National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification as a Respiratory Therapist (CRT). American Heart Association (AHA) certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Specialist (NPS). Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution. No prior experience required, but relevant training and skills are preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: The ability to lift 50 pounds and push/pull heavy objects safely. Demonstrated knowledge of safe body mechanics and transfer techniques.
