Position Purpose
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fully support and assist in the execution of the ESU's Mission
- Create and curate engaging content through effective utilization of the ESU and UBC's social media platforms to highlight students, events, services, partners, organizations, etc.
- Plan and staff engaging marketing tables to promote upcoming events and services the Union offers
- Contribute and execute marketing ESU and UBC's signature events such as The Union Experience, Union Birthday Bash, Holiday Market and Bowling with The Bests
- Collaborate with student organizations, Union partners, other offices and/or academic departments to enhance the social media experiences and encourage people to come to the ESU and UBC
- Analyze and report ongoing market research to understand the needs, perceptions, preferences, and satisfaction levels with particular segments of the ESU
- Create content about students, staff and alumni within assigned area
- Develop and edit stories, press releases and other web content according to style and policy
- Generate innovative ideas and concepts to keep content fresh, engaging, and relevant to the ESU's audience
- Review and update display cases in the Elliott Student Union
- Work cooperatively and seamlessly with other staff members to provide quality customer service
High school diploma or equivalent
Computer Skills
Word-Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation
Experience
Preferred Skills:
- Attention to detail
- Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines
- Solid understanding of the different social networks - specifically Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
- Efficiency at Google Suite
- Knowledge of a University environment
- Photography and Video Production
