As a Registered Nurse in our 12-bed Neurosciences Progressive Unit, you will provide care to a diverse patient population, including neurosurgery, neurology, and stroke patients. This fast-paced environment offers both general and intermediate levels of care. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver therapeutic, patient, and family-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Systematically and continuously collect and assess data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Perform all required elements of a nursing assessment, including physical examination, readiness to learn, psychosocial assessment, and functional assessment.
- Develop, execute, and evaluate the plan of care while considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost.
- Establish goals and strategies for meeting the discharge or continuing care needs of the patient/family.
- Utilize research findings in practice and participate in improving organizational performance activities.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge in nursing practice and assume responsibility for professional development.
- Permanent address outside a 50-mile radius of Madison (must be included in traveler's profile).
- ICU experience required; neurosurgery experience preferred.
- Willingness to work with ICU and IMC patient populations.
- Two years of acute care experience within the last 3 years.
- Experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or similar size hospital.
- Successfully completed a previous traveler assignment (13 weeks).
- WI nursing license or compact license from permanent address state.
- BLS & ACLS certification through the American Heart Association ONLY.
- Two references from recent work environments/assignments (supervisor or manager only).
- Basic Arrhythmia experience and must pass UW Health Telemetry test prior to starting.
- Travelers are the first to float to different units based on staffing needs.
- Urgency: Quick Start
- Shifts: 36 hours per week, Evening/Night, 12 hr shift, 1900-0730; every other weekend, some holidays
- State License: Must be currently active
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2
- Minimum Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Specialty Type: Intensive Care / Coronary Nurse (ICU), Neurology ICU
- General Certifications: BLS/BCLS, ACLS
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
