Senior Project Manager

Senior Project Manager Reporting to the University's Dean of the Graduate School and Senior Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies the Senior Project Manager will be a member of the senior leadership team managing major projects, coordinating initiatives, and providing advice on meeting strategic needs. Responsibilities Oversee multiple major projects to improve the operational efficiency of the Graduate School's administrative work. Projects may include modernization of the mechanisms by which Graduate School offices manage the flow of requests, documents, and other administrative activities; coordination of the development and implementation of a plan to meet the data needs of the Graduate School and its stakeholders; organization of task groups focused on issues of importance in graduate and postdoctoral education. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure readiness and adoption of new solutions. Manage flow of major projects across full project lifecycle from initiation to completion. Assemble project teams and partner with team members to assign responsibilities, develop project schedules, and track progress. Ensure effective collaboration and communication among project team members and stakeholders. Effectively allocate and manage internal and external resources to ensure optimal project delivery. Maintain comprehensive project documentation to ensure that all project milestones, decisions, and changes are accurately recorded. Benchmark, monitor, and evaluate project outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement. Drive change management efforts associated with projects to ensure smooth implementation of new technologies, systems, and processes. Establish and foster strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders in graduate and postdoctoral education. Coordinate the engagement of key stakeholders within the Graduate School and across campus in major projects and strategic initiatives. Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Dean and the senior leadership team on objectives, priorities, issues, and risks. Exercise independent analysis and judgment in prioritizing situations requiring attention and take steps to ensure strategic and operational priorities and projects progress in a timely fashion. Proactively identify information that has the potential to be impactful and elevate issues to the attention of the dean, along with options for resolution, in a timely manner. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. At least 7 years relevant professional experience collaboratively managing and leading projects. Project management professional experience or equivalent. Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on schedule. Demonstrated extensive experience in the following competencies: decision-making and critical thinking, tactical and strategic planning, effective communications and facilitation, problem solving, conflict management, and team management. Demonstrated excellent customer-facing and listening skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, both independently and collaboratively. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with information management systems in higher education. Project Management Institute (PM) Certification. Experience with graduate education. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or higher. Salary Range $105,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions Work around standard office conditions. Work performed on concurrent projects, often involving mission-critical deadlines. This position is expected to be on-site 5 days a week. This position is located in Austin, Texas. Fixed 2 year appointment. Work Shift Work schedule to be discussed with supervisor.
