JOB TITLE: Senior Developer

DEPARTMENT: 500-I.T.

REPORTS TO: Director of Information Technology

JOB SUMMARY: The senior developer role performs analysis and defines functionality for system/software improvements and new applications. The position manages or leads various phases of the development and maintenance of approved projects. A senior developer needs to have the experience to work on their own with little guidance from the project start to kick off. They will also be looked to as a source of help from their peers, and our company's key onsite developer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in defining and implementing technical direction.
  • Participates in selecting and implementing technical architecture of assigned projects.
  • Performs or reviews systems analysis, design, programming, testing, debugging, and documentation for assigned projects. Writes support documentation or help files for new software and major software enhancements.
  • Leads or participates in process improvement; Is a catalyst for change.
  • Provides technical leadership to team and department members. Leads through example, Mentors/influences others. Effectively works with peers, team members, and other departments.
  • Participates on project teams for assigned system projects; analyzes improvements and new applications and develops requirements and specifications with the team.
  • Investigate replacing current systems with new systems and analyze the adaptability of current operations. Technical equipment and software vendors and current users are consulted in these evaluations.
  • Helps develop specification, program, and documentation standards.
  • Coordinates support for new development.
  • Acts as a key contributor to projects. Drives a project, from a technical standpoint, and independently resolves issues, to the final launch of the project.
  • Makes significant contributions to the success of projects by applying demonstrated knowledge.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Master's degree in Computer Science preferred not required
  • 7 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER RELEVANT DUTIES:
  • Standard support for current systems, including software, hardware, printers, etc
  • Minor network administration
  • Ad Hoc departmental reporting
  • Bug fixes
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at our facility.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work additional hours or have availability/flexibility for new hire orientations on other shifts.
