Payrate: $17.70 - $18.18 per hourSt. Elizabeth provides a comprehensive array of individualized rehabilitation and nursing services, including short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, memory care and in-patient hospice care.St. Elizabeth is seeking a GNA, who will perform medical and physical care to elders in nursing unit to meet their daily needs and enable them to function at the highest possible level.The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 3pm - 11pm and every other weekend.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Attends to all elders' personal hygiene and daily living. This may include, but not limited to, providing baths, shampoo, and shaving, providing and clearing bedpans and urinals, assists with meals and feeds patients. Ambulates, turns, and positions patients. Provides fresh water and nourishment between meals. Plans and facilitates social activities for elders of the nursing unit which provide meaningful ways to spend time through recreation, exercise, and relationship building. Follows universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation, and safety standards in all work and elder activities.Instills confidence in elders by maintaining a neat appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner. Reports observations of elders to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.Participates actively in the elders' care planning and care plan meetings, serving as the elder's closest advocate in directing their care and honoring their preferences. Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees. Maintains good working relations with nursing unit staff and other hospital. employees through appropriate communication.Attend mandatory in-services and performs other duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or GED.Certification/Licensure: Passed the Geriatric Nursing Assistant examination and meets Federal requirements.REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.Talented in meeting the needs of the elderly population with consideration and respect.Ability to demonstrate cognitive, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with all those encountered, including elders, their family, and team members. Capable of addressing behavioral, medical, and fire/safety situations within the nursing unit. Demonstrated ability to adjust to changes in elders and facility needs.Skilled in seeking opportunities to share personal interests and talents with others through both planned and spontaneous activities. Ability to utilize, or willingness to learn computer systems and software, necessary to perform position functions (Basic computer, web browsing, online training, and email usage skills.).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:Heavy work that includes adjusting or moving objects up to 75# in all directions.Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.Hearing and vision abilities within normal range and to observe and communicate with patients.Communicating with others to exchange information.Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
