Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician Employment Type: Part Time Shift: Part Time Location: MercyOne - Mason City, Iowa Position Purpose The Pharmacy Technician prepares all medications, (unit dose and IV compounded products) for pharmacist check and ensures delivery to nursing unit for patient administration, refills pyxis units, prepares all floor stock requests, maintains the department's inventory in a clean and orderly condition, requisitions supplies, processes departmental paperwork, and triages phone calls. No prior experience is necessary. Extensive on the job training will be provided. Minimum Qualifications Required: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preferred: Completion of Pharmacy Technician training course and/or Certification. Certification and Registration: Required: Following accepting position, registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Technician Trainee or Certified Pharmacy Technician is required prior to commencement of employment per IA BOP Rules 657-3.3. Pharmacy Technician Certification. National certification must be acquired and maintained from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or the National Healthcareer Association prior to the expiration date of a Pharmacy Technician in Training registration. Must be organized and detail oriented Must follow all laws and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy Must be able to read, write and/or speak English Pharmacy Technician Trainee Position Purpose: The pharmacy technician trainee program trains individuals on all aspects of pharmacy and requires no previous experience. While studying towards certification, within limits of current training, and under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and general supervision of a Licensed Technician, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will: Learn how to prepare medication orders, including both sterile and non-sterile compounds. Processing physician medication orders to ensure medications are promptly, accurately, and safely delivered. Ensure all work meets regulatory compliance standards as related to the Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory, USP 795 / 797. Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and colleagues. Minimum Qualifications Education: Currently in High School, High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
