OVERVIEW: This position works with the Sales Managers to sell products and services using technical, organizational and customer knowledge, to develop technical proposals, take part in the sales process with customers to develop solutions that fulfill the requirements of the customers and results in a signed contract. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assure the quality of the proposals by reviewing, evaluating and providing direction and resolution with respect to contract issues, and business risk. Coordinate and manage, with the assistance of appropriate departments, all bid preparation and bid strategy activities to satisfy technical optimization, estimating, scheduling and risk management requirements. Manage all internal communications with the appropriate departments to ensure strong proposal preparation and resolve any problems or issues. Provide general assistance for development and maintenance of processes and standards and procedures that will assure consistent proposal execution. Support the Sales Manager in meeting proposal schedules and workflow in a cost efficient and effective manner, and maintain a good working relationship between departments. Work with the Sales Manager to identify customer requirements and prepare commercial and technical proposals based on the requirements specified in the request for quotation (RFQ). Assists management in the Coordination of resources such as engineering, sales, drafting/design and estimating in order to develop a commercial proposal that complies with CMI Industry Metals standards and meets the needs of the customer. Ensure fair market prices are used to develop the costs of the project. Once a contract is awarded, provide support to all departments as needed. Sales Contacts: Assist the Sales Managers with presentations, qualification documents and conferences with potential customers. Keep up to date with market research to identify potential and current customer needs and develop an effective application of products and services. If appropriate suggest product improvements directly to the Sales Managers. Evaluate product and service marketability in terms of customers’ technical and manufacturing needs. Sales Process: Assist the Sales Managers in preparing, calculating and obtaining the following for technical proposals: Cost Estimates Scope of Supply All technical clarification Sizing Systems, Components, Motors Compiling Motor Lists Calculating Utility Requirements Weights P&I drawings Mechanical drawings POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a mechanical related industry, furnace industry experience is a plus. Must be able to effectively read and understand mechanical, electrical and process drawings. Technical orientation with knowledge of building machines and mechanical and thermal processes. General knowledge of steel and/or furnace industry in terms of project schedules, sales cycles, economics, purchasing and equipment deliveries. Understanding of the thermal and structural parts of a furnace. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and be a good problem solver. Proficiency with the following programs: Microsoft Word Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets Charts/Graphs Macros (not required but a plus) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light physical effort required. Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility. 10% international and domestic travel may be required. Personal Protective Equipment: Protective eye wear when entering the Shop. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Usual office working conditions, free of disagreeable elements.
