What You'll Do

As a Software Engineer at Cisco, with a focus on the backend, you will drive the technology that's transforming the way customers secure their networks, and more importantly, their users.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our dynamic software development team. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, a well-rounded understanding of both front-end and back-end development, and a passion for problem-solving.

As a key member of the Cloud Security team, you’ll be responsible for the design, development, and operation of key microservices, APIs, and cloud infrastructure with a passion for streamlining applications and architecting fast and reliable microservices from interfaces to the backend to the build pipeline related to our Umbrella and Cisco Secure Access products offering. We are the go-to team who does it all.

Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications applying modern web technologies and frameworks Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features Contribute to the entire app lifecycle, from concept stage until delivery and post-launch support Maintain code integrity and organization, ensuring the highest level of performance for both front-end and back-end code Drive continuous adoption and integration of relevant new technologies into design

Who You'll Work With

The members of the Cloud Security Engineering Voltron team build and operate both customer and internal-facing services, apis, and applications, for the Umbrella and Cisco Secure Access and Cisco Umbrella platform. We are a team that encourages learning and experimentation. We work closely with the rest of the Cloud Security Engineering teams and other engineering groups across Cisco. This position will collaborate with a team of developers, designers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions as well as work directly with UX/UI designers to implement sophisticated user interfaces and user experiences as well as other engineers in architecting backend architectures. We work together very heavily with lots of pair programming so good communication and collaboration skills are a must

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 2 + years of experience in web development with a focus on full-stack architecture and development, leaning towards the backend 2 + years of work experience with server-side languages, API design and database technology (SQL) 2 + years of work experience with front-end languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, or JavaScript) and backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, PHP, or Node.js) 2 + years of experience with JavaScript frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React preferred) Strong React expertise and related front-end technologies Strong PHP skills Strong Go skills Experience designing microapp architectures Worked in an agile environment with CI/CD Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and in collaborative teams
