**Description**

There is no finished product without the ingredients that go into it. Sourcing is the beginning of the complex process that is frozen food manufacturing. As a buyer, you will plan, order and administer the procurement of raw materials to support the manufacturing of finished goods according to established procedures, practices, and policies.

**A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE**

* Develops and implements a strategy for procuring Raw or Pack materials

* Engages suppliers to focus on quality supply assurance to optimize the supply chain.

* Works with Material Planning to ensure material is released according to MRP requirements.

* Maintain processes and procedures necessary to support the planning and scheduling activities related to manufacturing, which include coordination of purchasing, production control and inventory control per MRP.

* Ensure all material is available in order to support delivery schedules and manufacturing objectives.

* Communicate timely and effectively with all levels (managers, supervisors, leads, etc.); relaying critical information.

* Provide support and assistance to the receiving and inspection personnel in problem resolution.

* Continuously monitors and upgrades supplier performance and maintains good supplier relations.

* Other duties as assigned by the Sourcing Management Team.

* It is the responsibility of all employees to uphold the mission of the Amys Food Safety and Quality Policy. This includes following all Food Safety and Sustainability programs and participating in all required training.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from four-year college or university or equivalent experience in Purchasing preferably in the food industry.Technical level expertise in principals of procurement in a production environment. At least 2 years of technical level expertise in principals of procurement in a production environment. Technical level expertise in planning, negotiation and contracting for materials.

**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**

* Knowledge of organic growing practices and experience with quality control standards for organic field crops preferred.

* Knowledge of sourcing packaging components preferred.

* Ability to organize and manage a large amount of data and experience in multitasking

* Able to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-moving ever-changing work environment

* Excellent interpersonal skills: able to work with senior management, growers, and processors.

* Highly developed written and oral communication skills.

* Excellent time management skills.

**LOCATION**

This position can be a remote opportunity or based in our Petaluma, California office. #LI-Remote
