RN - Emergency Department, 0.9 FTE, Nights in Bellingham PeaceHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a full?time, 0.9 FTE, night position in our emergency department, a 48?bed Level II Trauma Center in Bellingham. This role focuses on delivering high?quality patient care around the clock. Job Summary Our Emergency Department is a powerhouse 48?bed Level II Trauma Center, where board?certified emergency physicians are on call 24/7 to deliver world?class care. Whether its trauma, a sudden medical issue, or even a non?urgent concern weve got you covered with compassion, expertise, and speed. This position provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards, promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team. Essential Functions Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs. Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards. Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence. Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development. Participate in the development of and maintain established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required: Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Preferred: Specialty certification. Experience Required: Minimum one year of recent Emergency experience or currently oriented and able to provide care independently within the department. Must demonstrate independent management of cardiac, complex med/surg, pediatric, and multiple trauma patients. Demonstrated competence in area of expertise. Credentials Required: Registered Nurse. Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support. Required: ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer date. Required: ENPC and TNCC within 12 months of hire or transfer date. Skills Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age?specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patients needs (Required). Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family?centered work environment (Required). Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures (Required). Basic computer skills (Required). Working Conditions Lifting Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH). Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures. Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., medical carts). Perform hands?on CPR at least 20 mins using 100?125 lbs. of force. Frequency should be seldom or occasionally. Ability to move around area with frequent sitting. Bending/stooping/squatting/reaching/kneeling frequently. Lifting (non?patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently. Environmental Conditions Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment. Mental/Visual Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
